Good for the kids, mostly smooth sailing

After looking at Vanguard for a Junior ISA, Nutmeg's managed portfolios caught my eye for my little one's future. The sign-up process was really straightforward, especially since I just used the promotional link I found rather than hunting for a code. My only minor gripe is that sometimes it takes a little while to get through to one of their wealth experts if you have a quick question.

Good for Cash ISA, but contact is slow

Got a nice bonus when I signed up for a Cash ISA through a referral link I found here, which was straightforward. The platform itself is pretty easy to navigate, and setting up the account was simple enough. However, I had a question about Tax Loss Harvesting and trying to get hold of one of their wealth experts took a lot longer than I expected, which was a bit frustrating.

pretty good, but check the fees

i've been looking at Wealthify and Moneyfarm for a while, but Nutmeg's Socially Responsible Portfolios caught my eye. the sign-up was super easy because i used a referral link from a friend, so no faffing with promo codes which is nice. their management fees are around 0.75% for my pot size, which feels a bit higher than some others like Vanguard UK, but the ethical options are worth it for me. it's a solid platform overall, just wish the app was a bit snappier sometimes.

mostly good, but a bit slow

got a nice sign-up bonus through a referral link which made switching my ISA Transfer Service really appealing. setting up the transfer was straightforward enough, and the platform seems decent for my Financial Planning. my only gripe is withdrawals can take a while, not ideal if you need access to your money quickly.

Good ethical investing option!

i've been looking to transfer my ISA for a while, and Nutmeg made it pretty straightforward, unlike some other platforms. their Ethical Investing options are exactly what i was looking for, though it would be nice if they had a few more specific themes to choose from like some competitors. happy with it overall. 👍

Good ISA setup experience

I opened a Stocks and Shares ISA a few months ago. The online process was pretty smooth, just a bit of identity verification that took a day or two. My funds went in without a hitch. I opted for a Managed Portfolio and the initial allocation seemed sensible for my risk profile. I had one question about rebalancing, and their support team got back to me via email within 24 hours, which was good. The dashboard is clear, easy to see how things are performing. No complaints about the quality of the service, everything's been as expected so far.

Fee-free offer was key

I was looking to start a Personal Pension and found Nutmeg's 6 months fee-free offer. That really swayed my decision. The sign-up was straightforward. It felt like good value with that deal.

Decent service, minor quibble

I transferred my existing ISA to Nutmeg to consolidate things. The transfer incentive was appealing, which made me switch. The process took a little longer than I expected, about three weeks total, but it did complete successfully. Their communication during the wait was okay, not super proactive but they answered when I asked. The fees are competitive, especially with the initial offer. Overall, I'm satisfied, though quicker transfers would be a plus for new customers.

Anyone tried the Smart Alpha portfolios on Nutmeg? Worth it over the standard managed ones?

A ArjunS 2 days ago ✓ Best Answer
I switched to Smart Alpha last year. Fees are a bit higher but the performance has been better for me. They seem to do more active management.

Did you get a sign-up offer when you switched?

Interesting. Was thinking of upgrading.

Depends how hands-off you wanna be. Smart Alpha is more 'set it and forget it' with active oversight.

Stick with the Fixed Allocation portfolios if you're budget-conscious. Lower fees and still decent returns.

That's what I'm on now. Seems fine.

Is there a minimum investment to get started with Nutmeg? Don't want to commit a huge amount right away.

N Nick Q. 3 weeks ago
I think it's £100 for some accounts, but check their site. For a pension, it might be a bit more.
2
G Gwen 3 weeks ago
Yeah, last I checked it was £100 for ISAs and GIAs, but pensions and LISAs have different minimums, I think a bit higher.

Thinking of starting a Nutmeg ISA. Which one should I go for?

P PriyaS 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Go for the Stocks and Shares ISA. It's pretty standard and a good way to start investing.

If you're under 40, the Lifetime ISA is worth looking at for the government bonus, especially if you're saving for a house.

Good shout, forgot about that bonus.

Just get the General Investment Account if you've maxed out your ISA allowances already.

Or if you just want something flexible.

My understanding is Nutmeg is now part of J.P. Morgan, right? Does that make it more 'safe' or is it just a name change?

O Omar Romero 1 month ago
Yeah, they got bought by J.P. Morgan. It adds a layer of reassurance for sure, bigger company backing it.

A Anna Bennett 1 month ago
It definitely helps with credibility. Plus, your money is still protected by the FSCS up to £85k like with other regulated firms.

Hey, wondering if anyone's had experience with transferring an ISA to Nutmeg? Is it a smooth process or a nightmare?

R Ryan 1 month ago
Yeah, I transferred mine last year. It was pretty straightforward, all done online. Took a couple of weeks to settle fully I think.
4
S Shane 1 month ago
Mine was surprisingly easy, didn't have to do much just fill out their form and they handled the rest. Just make sure you have all your old ISA details ready.

I saw something about 6 months fee-free for new customers. Is that still a thing or did I miss it?

P Phil Torres 1 month ago
I think it's still running, but usually, you need a specific referral link or landing page. Can't just sign up normally and expect it.
6
F Faith 1 month ago
Yeah, check TopCashback or Quidco sometimes they have special links too, that's how I got mine a while back.

Anyone compared Nutmeg to Wealthify? Trying to decide between them for a SIPP.

K Kevin Q. 1 month ago
I looked at both. Nutmeg felt a bit more established being part of J.P. Morgan now, but Wealthify had slightly lower fees on some of their portfolios when I checked. Depends on your risk appetite really.

R Rachel 1 month ago
Vanguard is another one to look at if you're comfortable with passive investing. Nutmeg has more managed options which can be good if you want someone else to do the thinking.
